Emma holds over ten years’ experience in strategic communications and crisis management. She protects and rebuilds the reputations of businesses, governments and high-net-worth individuals. Emma has counselled senior leaders, politicians and individuals on complex issues and during moments of significant change.
Emma closely collaborates with law firms, advising on high-profile litigation cases and reputation issues. She has worked on reputation management campaigns across sectors (extractives, TMT, real estate, FMCG, and financial services) for a diverse set of clients in the EMEA and Americas region.
Emma Kosian joined Hawthorn in 2024 from Woodrow, a boutique reputation management consultancy, where she led the crisis and issues, and internal communications offering. Prior to her time at Woodrow, Emma worked for Burson-Marsteller UK (now BCW), Deloitte, and Shell.
Emma spent significant time on the ground in Nairobi, Kenya throughout 2019 – 2023 and has a deep understanding for Sub-Saharan Africa, with a particular focus on East Africa.
Emma holds a MsC from Leiden University and speaks English, German, Dutch and Spanish.
Outside of the office, Emma is an avid hiker, skier, and traveller, who is always on the look-out for the next adventure.
