Josh Dowley

Prior to joining Hawthorn, Josh worked in investor relations at Darktrace PLC, a global AI cybersecurity company. Before joining Darktrace, Josh worked as an intern at an international conflict resolution charity.

Between leaving Darktrace and joining Hawthorn, Josh spent five and a half months in West Africa studying French and taking photography trips across the region. Josh graduated from Durham University in 2020 with a degree in Philosophy and he holds an MSc in Violence, Conflict & Development from SOAS University, with a focus upon modern conflict in Liberia. 

In his spare time, Josh is a keen fly fisherman, fly tyer and wood sculptor. 

Dougie Bruce-Watt

Dougie is a Senior Analyst at Hawthorn, having joined the firm in 2023.

He works primarily in corporate communications, supporting financial and professional services clients with research, analysis, monitoring, and press engagement.  

Dougie holds an MSc International Management with Distinction from King’s College London, and a BA Ancient History from the University of Bristol. Outside of work, Dougie has a fondness for all genres of music and is a keen concertgoer. He is also an avid sports fan and unfortunate supporter of Scottish Rugby and Chelsea FC.

Alice Jones

Alice joined Hawthorn in 2023 and helps deliver political engagement for a variety of clients across different sectors.

Prior to joining Hawthorn, Alice worked as a Parliamentary Researcher for a Conservative MP at the House of Commons for two years. She provided a range of support and advice and regularly produced research and briefings, including on Treasury Select Committee meetings. She also wrote a successful policy proposal on the roll-out of specialist Sexual Offence Courts across England that was published by the Ministry of Justice.

Alice graduated from the University of Andrews with a degree in International Relations and spent time studying in Germany.

She grew up in Sydney and London and rowed to a nationally-competitive level. Outside of work, Alice still enjoys team sports and plays in a weekly netball league.
